Stuart Cove - Wakulla, FL Inshore Report on 2nd May, 2026

Fished the Dyment family visiting from Connecticut. Young Devin caught dinner for the family with 2 nice pompano. One fish was 13" to the fork but the large pompano was a whopping 21" and weighed 6.4 lbs which makes that fish the largest pompano ever caught on Catch 22 Fishing Charters. Congratulations Devin for landing a fish of a lifetime 👏.

Inshore Fishing Report – Mac Attack in Stuart fishing report coverpicture

February 25, 2026

Stuart Cove - Wakulla, FL Inshore Report on 25th Feb, 2026

The Spanish Mackerel have finally made their way along the beaches here in Stuart, bringing some exciting action to our recent inshore fishing trips. With calm seas giving us the perfect window to fish tight to the shoreline, we spent the day casting along the beach and ended up landing 15 Spanish Mackerel — plenty for the smoker and a great way to kick off the bite. These fish are a welcome sight and should continue to stick around our local waters through April, offering consistent opportunities on upcoming inshore fishing charters in Stuart Florida. After getting our fill of mackerel, we switched things up and began targeting sheepshead around nearby structure. The bite didn’t disappoint, with several quality sheepshead coming over the rail along with a nice bonus flounder to round out the trip. It’s always a great sign when multiple inshore species are actively feeding, making this a productive time for anglers looking to experience backcountry fishing in Stuart Florida. The Spanish Mackerel were caught by casting artificial minnow jigs while chumming with glass minnows to keep the schools fired up close to the boat. For the sheepshead and flounder, live shrimp paired with my homemade Trollrite jigs did the trick, producing steady bites throughout the session. With spring approaching, expect the inshore fishing in Stuart Florida to keep improving as more species become active along the beaches and backwaters.

Jensen Beach Park - St. Lucie, FL Inshore Report on 27th Apr, 2025

The past few weeks I have been fishing larger groups of 5 and 6 people which means we are fishing mainly with shrimp as bait. Smaller groups of 2 or less, livebaiting for snook and jacks with greenies for bait or targeting tripletail with shrimp is always an option. The croaker bite has been hot mainly on the outgoing tide along with some weakfish and pompano. We caught some nice snook, ja ks and tripletail with smaller groups recently.

Indian River - Walton, FL Inshore Report on 26th Mar, 2025

Fished again this morning with Fred Hepper from Bernardsville N.J and Mark Johnson from Vero Beach ( my dynamic duo). These guys caught 3 tripletail with me a few weeks ago. This was our first snook trip of the season. Livebaiting with greenies they went 3 for 3 on snook with 1 in the 28-32 " slot that went home for dinner. Snook trips are a bit different than our regular charters. They must be in the morning so that we can purchase if available livebaits which are an extra charge of 25.00 a dozen. Also these trips are ideal up to 2 anglers. Larger groups up to six people we fish with shrimp which are included with the trip. The best snook bite starts now thru November with a closed season June- August .

Indian River - Walton, FL Inshore Report on 18th Mar, 2025

Fun Time With The Barbers Fished repeat customers the Barbers ( party of 5) this morning. The wind was cranking out of the north 18-20 mph so we spent the entire trip on the St. Lucie Inlet out of the wind. Plenty of sheepshead, 4 black margates to 7lbs, mangrove snapper, porkfish, grunts and spors bending the rods all morning. Fun family and hope to see them again next year.

August 15, 2024

Jensen Beach Park - St. Lucie, FL Inshore Report on 15th Aug, 2024

As we approach mid August, look for the snook and Tripletail bite to pick up. We are getting close to our annual fall finger mullet run where billions of 6" baitfish enter our inland waterways bringing with them an array of species chasing them down. Snook, jack crevelle, tarpon just to name a few. This mullet run occurs every year in September and October. Snook season opens again September 1st till December 15th. Regulations are the same with one fish per person and must be in the 4" slot of 28" - 32".

Summer On The Treasure Coast | Stuart Fishing Report fishing report coverpicture

June 12, 2024

Jensen Beach Park - St. Lucie, FL Inshore Report on 12th Jun, 2024

Air and water temperatures are on the rise with more afternoon showers as we head into the summer. Water quality has been great with no water releases from Lake Okeechobee the past few months. This time of year I strongly suggest morning trip not only to beat the heat but also avoid afternoon storms which is definitely a possibility in the summer. Still catching some nice tripletail on the Indian River with jacks, and snappers bending those rods. Livebaiting south near the inlet and area bridges, snook, jacks, tarpon, Goliath grouper and cubera snapper will be around. With flat seas in the summer, nearshore fishing on the ocean is available for groups up to 3 people. These trips require calm seas up to 2ft and also available for 3/4 and full day trips only with either a 6 or 7 am departures. On these trips we target kingfish, sailfish, Mahi, barracuda and Bonita. We have already landed several sailfish already this summer which are a blast on lighter tackle.
