Inshore fishing around Stuart is all about versatility. One minute you might be sight-casting to tailing redfish in the shallows, the next you're working a topwater lure along mangrove shorelines for snook. Captain Bob's pontoon allows easy access to skinny water spots where the big boys like to hide. For tripletail, we'll scan floating debris and channel markers – these oddball fish love to laze near the surface, often mistaken for floating trash until they explode on your bait. Light tackle is the name of the game here, so expect some serious fights when you hook up. Don't worry if you're new to this style of fishing; Cap'n Bob will walk you through everything from knot tying to proper lure presentation.

Redfish: These copper-colored bruisers are a staple of inshore fishing in Florida. Known for their distinctive spot near the tail, redfish (also called red drum) can grow to over 40 inches in these waters. They're often found tailing in shallow grass flats, giving anglers the thrill of sight fishing. Redfish are hard fighters and even harder pullers – when one takes your bait, hold on tight! Fall and winter are prime times to target these guys, but they can be caught year-round with the right know-how.
Snook: If there's a rock star of Florida inshore fishing, it's the snook. These ambush predators are known for their explosive strikes and acrobatic jumps. Snook love structure, so we'll target them around mangroves, docks, and bridge pilings. They're most active in warmer months, with spring and fall being particularly good. Landing a big snook is a true test of an angler's skill – their sharp gill plates and tenacity make them masters of cutting lines and throwing hooks.
Tripletail: Don't let their lazy appearance fool you – tripletail are odd-looking but hard-fighting fish that'll give you a run for your money. These flat-sided gamefish have a unique habit of floating near the surface, often mimicking floating debris. We'll cruise the flats and channels, looking for these "floating" fish. When you spot one, a well-placed cast with a live shrimp or small lure can lead to an instant hookup. Tripletail are excellent eating fish, too, making them a favorite among local anglers.
Look, whether you're a seasoned angler or someone who can barely tell a fishing rod from a pool cue, Captain Bob's got you covered. This trip is all about having a blast on the water while hopefully putting some fish in the boat. With the variety of species and fishing spots around Stuart, every trip is a new adventure. So why not grab your hat and sunscreen, and join Catch 22 Fishing Charters for a day you won't forget? The fish are biting, and Cap'n Bob's ready to show you the ropes. Don't let this chance slip away – book your spot now and get ready to make some fishing memories on the beautiful waters of Florida's Treasure Coast!

Redfish are a staple of our inshore fishery, known for their copper color and distinctive tail spot. Most run 3-10 pounds, but trophy "bull reds" over 20 pounds aren't uncommon. You'll find them tailing in shallow grass flats or cruising near oyster bars, often in just a foot or two of water. Fall is prime time as they school up to spawn. Anglers love sight fishing for reds and their strong, determined fights. They're also delicious on the grill. To target them, I'll often use scented soft plastics or live shrimp under a popping cork. One local trick is to look for diving birds - they'll lead you right to feeding redfish. When you hook up, keep your rod tip low to prevent them from jumping and throwing the hook.

Snook are a prized inshore catch here in Stuart. These sleek predators typically run 1-3 feet long and put up an acrobatic fight. You'll find them lurking around mangroves, docks, and other structure in the shallows. Fall through spring is prime snook season as they move inshore. Anglers love targeting them for their aggressive strikes and tasty white meat. To land a big one, try live bait like mullet or pinfish near structure during incoming tides. Snook can be leader-shy, so I'll often use fluorocarbon to get more bites. Watch for their distinctive black lateral line when sight fishing the flats. Nothing beats the excitement of a big snook crushing a topwater plug at dawn.

Tripletail are an oddball species that'll test your sight fishing skills. These flat-bodied fish usually run 2-15 pounds and have a knack for mimicking floating debris. Look for them near buoys, crab traps, or weed lines, especially in summer. They're ambush predators, so a stealthy approach is key. Anglers enjoy the challenge of spotting and presenting to these clever fish. Plus, they're excellent table fare. To entice a bite, I'll often pitch a live shrimp or small crab imitation near the fish and let it slowly sink. Tripletail have small mouths, so don't set the hook too hard. Their acrobatic jumps and bulldogging runs make for an exciting fight on light tackle.
