Good Variety of Fish

Report Date: February 4, 2016

We've had some interesting fishing trips lately with quite the variety. Some good size weakfish have invaded our area, up to 3 lbs. We normally don't some across too many each year and they usually run much smaller. Also something different is black margates in the inlet, up to 10.5 lbs. These we catch and release. Although they are in the snapper family, their skeletal structure is different than most fish and all you really get is a small backstrap, hardly worth killing the fish for.

Drum, snook and sheepshead can be found at the bridges with some nice sized croakers mixed in. Pompano remain slow inshore. We should continue to see lots of Spanish mackerel outside thru March.
