Waiting for Flounder

Report Date: June 10, 2014

I just returned from a fun time in Islamorada. I’m seeing super clean water in the St. Lucie Inlet on the incoming tide. Kinda like fishing in an aquarium. Water temps are up to 85 degrees, so get out early if you want to fish shallow. The inlet has been a crapshoot with jacks, snook and possible tarpon on live pilchards. Some black drum are available at the bridges on both tides.

Up north we’ve been finding tripletail, snapper, black drum and sheepshead; but still no flounder. I'm fishing north tomorrow and hopefully we will see a few. The glass minnows have not made it to my favorite spots yet, but they will!!!
